The fifth season of HBO's epic fantasy, "Game of Thrones" is coming in a few months, and it's about time that a new trailer is released, together with teaser photos from the series.
According to the Los Angeles Times, HBO released the trailer Friday after a pirated version went up online after its debut at a special IMAX screening for the digitally remastered final two episodes from the fourth season. According to Deadline, the unofficial video that appeared on YouTube was shot by a moviegoer at one of the screenings for the series - complete with audible fan reactions at the end.
However, there is no need to despair if you haven't seen the remastered episodes on IMAX yet. Both episodes are currently still screening in over 200 IMAX theaters across the country, if you want to check them out, they are scheduled to play until February 5, Los Angeles Times added.
The much anticipated trailer did not disappoint fans when it showed "provocative imagery" from old and new characters. In fact, it came close to being epic. There is also more than just finding a new ruler for the seven kingdoms, and the Game of Thrones is getting more competitive, with Littlefinger telling Sansa to "avenge them," Daenerys planning to "break the wheel" and Cersei hell-bent and out for revenge.
But perhaps the most interesting conversation of all came from Conleth Hill's Varys and Peter Dinklage's Tyrion Lannister:
Varys: The Seven Kingdoms needs a ruler loved by millions, with a powerful army and the right family name.
Tyrion: Good luck finding him.
Varys: Who said anything about him?
Aren't you intrigued? Who do you suppose is in Varys's mind - a Stark girl, perhaps? It could be Margaery Tyrell, who is set to become not just a queen, but the queen; or maybe even Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons?
GQ Magazine also noted that the trailer was paired with an amazing cover of David Bowie's "Heroes," which actually fit perfectly considering how many downtrodden characters there were, trying to get up from whichever hole they have been buried into.
Besides the trailer, new photos were also released - eighteen, to be exact, depicting scenes from the fifth season.
Check out the trailer from Game of Thrones official Facebook page here and share your thoughts about the upcoming fifth season: are you excited to see what will become of the characters? Which storyline do you wish there will be more of? Which of the new characters are you excited to see?
"Game of Thrones" Season 5 will be back on HBO on April 12.
