Adrienne Bailon opened up for the first time about her absence in the music scene. Read the singer's confession below, as reported by E! Online.
In the recent episode of "The Real," Bailon had to read a fan question that said, "You have an amazing voice, why are you hiding it from the world? Why are you not making music?"
Tears then quickly welled up on the singer's eyes. In an emotional and choked up voice, she revealed that she is scared of failure.
"One, I'm scared to fail, so I've had this solo album people that I've been saying is coming out for the last five years," Bailon began, as quoted by E! Online. "I'm scared to fail, I don't like the sound of my own voice."
The TV personality was first known as the lead singer and founding member of both 3LW and The Cheetah Girls.
Bailon also said that she enjoyed the music side more in 3LW because of its R&B quality, with The Cheetah Girls, however, people only praised the fact that she sounded "so young." Now at age 31, Bailon thinks that she still sounded "really young" whenever she hears her recorded voice.
"But, for a long time I think when I finished Cheetah Girls, I got a record deal at Def Jam and it didn't go the way I thought it was gonna go. Like there was so much more to music than just what I love about music. I grew up singing in church. I sing everyday-nobody knows it, but I love to sing," she continued to explain.
Bailon also admitted that working in the music industry wasn't what she expected, and that things are different for her now that she's in her 30s than they were when she started her career at the ripe age of 16.
"I felt like the music business was different than when I got in the game at 16 years old," she explained. "It was about music and talent and singing. And to step out on my own and let my voice be heard, I'm scared. Like what if people don't like it? Or what if it's not, I don't know...what if it's not successful? Like I almost have been saying I would rather it not come out and just say, 'Well it just never came out,' then for it come out and be wack."
The singer's co-hosts Tamar Braxton, Tamera Mowry, Loni Love, and Jeannie Mai were all emotional as Bailon revealed the reasons why she halted her singing career. Mowry then reminded her friend about a piece of advice Bailon always imparts, which is "never living your life with what ifs." Mai also reassured Bailon that she will always have their support no matter what.
