A slew of custom ROMs were released by generous developers just recently.
To begin with, users of HTC's One M8 can now download the Android 5.0.1 SkyDragon v1 ROM, International Business Times UK reported. Known to be a "highly-stable" release, the build was said to bring bloatware-free software and a smoother Lollipop experience.
The build also supports HTC Sense 6.0. Through the Aroma-optimized custom kernel, improved battery life may be expected.
Along with speed and battery optimization, the custom ROM reportedly delivers the following features: Power Amp, Quickboot App, Dropbox, full language system support, full Laypota ModPack compatibility, Project Era v22 and SkyDragon Bootanimation, among others.
Sony's Xperia Z2 is next on our list. The new CyanogenMod CM12 custom ROM is out for the device, IBT India said. However, since the build is a Nightly version, bugs and stability issues are expected.
Unfortunately, the build reportedly lacked the following features: Theme Engine, Quick Settings reorganization and customization, Quick Settings Ribbon mode, navigation bar reorganization and customization, sound panel customization and lock-screen quick unlock.
In another report, IBT India took note of Cyanide-L's new Android 5.0.2 Lollipop custom ROM, specially tailored for Samsung's Galaxy S3 T999 (T-Mobile) model.
IBT's source warned that the build may only be installed in the designated model. It is said to bring a plethora of improvements, including a new visual interface, customization options, shortcuts and personalization features.
According to Team Android, T-Mobile might not release an official update for the smartphone. That said, interested users may consider installing the custom firmware to get the latest of Lollipop.
In other news, OnePlus was noted to build its own league of software engineers, the Android Police wrote. As told by the outlet, the manufacturer's relationship with supplier Cyanogen has been "strained." At this point, OnePlus has made an alpha build of Lollipop available for its OnePlus One.
However, Know Your Mobile reported that this build isn't final, which only makes bugs not very surprising. The outlet took note of OnePlus' remarks, "As we look towards the official ROM release in the near future, we will keep to our promise and deliver an experience that is customizable, yet bloat-free with stock-Android-like simplicity by default; we wouldn't ask you to settle for anything less."
