Taylor Swift has hogged the Billboard charts early in the year, but it seems that it's finally time for her to move over and give the limelight to a group of rockers, thus proving that rock really isn't dead.

According to Reuters, Fall Out Boy has topped the Billboard 200 album for the third time, and is holding off Taylor's "1989". Their sixth studio album, called "American Beauty /  American Psycho" has already had about 218,000 sales units as noted from Nielsen SoundScan for the week ending on January 25. Billboard noted that this made FOB the biggest sales week for a rock album since May 2014 for Coldplay's "Ghost Stories."

The album is an instant hit, selling over 192,000 copies, 204,000 individual songs, and streamed nearly 9 million times, making it the second-biggest sales week for a rock album in two years.

According to Variety, Taylor Swift's "1989" remained at no. 2 with a 119,000-unit sales total, Meghan Trainor's debut, "Title," at No. 3 with 86,000 sales, and Ed Sheeran's "X" at no. 4 with 76,000. Nicki Minaj's "The Pinkprint" is at no. 6 with 54,000, and Sam Smith's "In the Lonely Hour" at no. 9 with 50,000.

For the newcomers, rapper Joey Bada$'s "B4.Da.$" started at no. 5 with 58,000 units, indie rock group and the Decemberists' "What a Terrible World" at no. 7.

Marilyn Manson's "Pale Emperor," on the other hand, is currently at No.8 with 51,000, and Mark Ronson's "Uptown special" finishes off the top 10 with 49,000 units.

2014 was a bad time for rock, but things seem to be looking up this year, compared to the better year in recent history. Billboard compared this year's rock toppers to that of 2013, and it seems that things are getting better for the genre. According to the website, the last time that there were three rock albums on the top 200 selling over 40,000 units apiece was way back in the week ending November 2, 2013, when Pearl Jam, Paul McCartney, and the Avett Brothers topped the charts.
