It seems that the second  "Snow White and the Huntsman" film will be without Snow White nor dwarves. According to Deadline, Universal's "The Huntsman" will be just that: the huntsman.

The website said that the film will only be featuring two dwarves, and it's not yet clear on who they will be, however, Nick Frost, Toby Jones, and Eddie Marsan definitely won't be in it, especially considering that Marsan has scheduling conflicts for Showtime's "Ray Donovan." Frost and Jones, on the other hand, apparently has not agreed on the terms for their return for the second installment.

So what happened to Kristen Stewart's role as Snow White? According to Cinema Blend, the actress will be playing a small-to-nonexistent role in the film, but that was from awhile ago and circumstances may change. The website also noted that with Stewart out of the way for the next film, Hemsworth and Theron could play each other off and will give the film a fresh start.

Celebeat also noted that "The Huntsman" is intended to be a prequel, not a sequel as originally thought, and the film's plot will center on the origins of Eric, and his quest on finding a magic mirror, which is why it's been re-titled. With this, the film will be focused primarily on the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth). Charlize Theron will also be back as the evil queen Ravenna, with talks of Emily Blunt playing a villain. More specifically, signing on to the film will mean that Blunt will be given the role of the Snow Queen, who, as it turned out, is Queen Ravenna's vengeful sister.

Due to internal conflicts, director Frank Darabont will not be working on the project either, and Universal has replaced him with Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, who had a Visual Effects Oscar nomination to his name for his work on the first film. Nicolas-Troyan has also so far built up his career as a second unit director, with films like "Maleficent" and "The Ring" to his name. "The Huntsman" will be his directorial debut.

It has been said that the current script for "The Huntsman" was written by Darabont, but it is not yet clear whether or not it will be used by Nicolas-Troyan, considering that Darabont has exited the project altogether.

"The Huntsman" is set to be released in theaters on April 22, 2016. What do you think of "The Huntsman" without Snow White in the picture?
