The sixth generation of Apple's iPod touch is speculated to arrive in March, BREATHEcast reported. Following January's international Consumer Electronics Show, the tech industry will see its next major event in the Mobile World Congress (MWC), happening on Mar. 2 - 5 in Barcelona, Spain.
If this holds truth, we're roughly a month away from seeing the new compact media player. The new iPod succeeds Sept. 2012's fifth-generation version.
Citing information from the Stabley Times, BREATHEcast noted that Apple may use the event to "issue a press release" concerning the much-awaited product. That said, the upcoming MWC may not be the time for the Cupertino giant to showcase its newest iPod on a full-scale bonanza.
As seen by Christian Today, the rumored product is already overdue, considering Apple's possible restoration of the lineup.
Interestingly, the new iPod is said to bring features found in the current iPhone 6 flagship, Master Herald wrote. According to the outlet, the product may arrive in two sizes: 4.7 and 5.5 inches. In addition, the Apple Pay has been tipped for inclusion.
As you might remember, the iPhone 6 packed a similar 4.7-inch display, while the iPhone 6 Plus came with 5.5 inches.
Master Herald is convinced that a simultaneous release of the iPod touch 6G and the Apple Watch will allow Apple to "highlight to the public the synchronization feature of the iWatch." For a successful synchronization, the outlet claimed that the iOS will be necessary, hence predicting a "likely" iOS 9 to wrap the products' launch.
On the other hand, the new iPod touch may still be packed with the current iOS 8, the Ecumenical News reported. As told by the source, the device was also teased to sport a new Retina display, Siri and dual-core A5 or A9 processor. The product line's iconic funky colors were thought to stay.
In a more recent report, Ecumenical News claimed that the "practical" consumer would choose the iPhone 6 over the iPod touch, because of the added features packed in the latest iPhone flagship. The source thought of the iPod touch as "just a music device."
As we have previously noted, the new iPod touch could retail less than the iPhone 6 since it possibly lacks core features found in the smartphone. At present, the iPhone 6 starts at $199 for its 16 GB version, while the iPhone 6 Plus retails from $299. For more details, head over here.
Apple has not confirmed any information surrounding the alleged iPod touch 6G, as it has been called.
