The 63rd Miss Universe 2015 pageant wrapped up its contest in Miami on Sunday and now it has found its new Queen in Miss Colombia Paulina Vega, Yahoo reported.

The 22-year-old beat out the representatives of 88 other countries to nab the crown and joining her at the top are runners-up Miss USA Nia Sanchez from Las Vegas, Nevada and Miss Ukraine Diana Harkusha.

So what made Vega stand out among all the Miss Universe contestants? Here are three possible reasons why Miss Colombia came out on top as this year's Miss Universe:

1. She has beauty, brains and boldness.

Vega is studying business administration in Barranquilla, Colombia and admitted that her participation in the Miss Universe pageant was her first effort, according to Yahoo. One can only imagine how nerve wracking it could be for the Miss Universe newbie.

Coming out as the new Queen, she definitely has a lot on her plate now before she could go back to Colombia and her studies, but she already stated before that she definitely has plans to return to her homeland and resume her studies for the said degree.

2. She wants equality and believes in perseverance.

During the question and answer portion of the show, Vega was asked about what she wanted women to learn from men, and she was quick to answer "equality," according to News.

She, along with the other contestants, was also asked the viewers-chosen question of "What is the greatest contribution from your country to the entire world?"

Vega pointed out how Colombia has become a great example to the world, saying that the people always persevere, according to Heavy.

3. She believes in the woman of today.

According to Express, she shared during an interview held earlier this week, that she wanted people to stop thinking of the event as something shallow that women participated in.

"Every girl has different reasons why they are participating, by my reason, it's because it will be a dream come true to represent the woman of today," she said. "A woman that not only cares about being beautiful and being glamorous, but also cares about being a professional, intelligent, hard-working person."

With her win, Vega has the chance to wear the new Miss Universe crown valued at $300,000. It was designed by Czech Republic company Diamonds International Corp. and was inspired by the New York City skyline, the home of the Miss Universe Organization, according to Inquirer.

Following Miss Universe Colombia, Miss USA and Miss Ukraine, the others who made the top five are Miss Netherlands Yasmin Yerheijen and Miss Jamaica Kaci Fennell, according to Zap2It.

The pageant was hosted by MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts and "Today" show host Natalie Morales. Performers at the event were Prince Royce and Nick Jonas, noted Daily Mail.
