Kojima Productions is getting ready to launch its open world action-adventure stealth game "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" this year and it seems a launch date will be announced sometime soon, though when that will be is still a mystery, VG 247 reported.
"The Phantom Pain" is designed, directed, produced and written by Hideo Kojima and serves as a sequel to "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes" which came out last year. It's now set to be released on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC sometime this year.
The news of the launch date comes from the latest Kojima Station webcast where a spokesperson assured fans and gamers that the exact date is coming soon, according to PlayStation Lifestyle.
The spokesperson said, "I know you've all been eagerly await for word on releasing timing. I think we should be able to announce that soon, so look forward to that. It's only a little longer."
Some are pointing out that this could mean the date will be unveiled at the upcoming Taipei Game Show on Jan. 31, where new information about the game may also be revealed, on top of the bleak release date.
Rumors and leaks that popped up at the end of last year claimed that the release date could be around mid-February, specifically on Feb. 24, according to Uber Gizmo.
The problem though is it seems to be contradictory to the announcement made that "The Phantom Pain" is only about to approach the bug testing phase, according to VG247. The developers are still finishing adjusting the new elements that have been introduced to the game, and will go ahead with testing if everything is in order.
Considering that testing is just about to start, it seems unlikely that "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" will be ready by February, as rumors suggest. Hopefully, it all gets cleared up when Kojima Productions makes the official announcement.
For now though, fans and gamers will probably appreciate seeing new footage of the game or hear about the announcement. The Kojima Station webcast was uploaded on KONAMI573ch's YouTube account on Thursday for viewing. The video is in Japanese though, which might be a struggle for the non-speakers.
Gamers can also look back on the various "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" trailers that have appeared online, such as the Extended Director's Cut of the trailer unveiled at the E3 2014, as well as the Quiet Trailer which appeared on September.
"Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" is coming out soon, with information on gameplay, graphics, features, price tag and more to be revealed at a later date.
