Those planning to get hold of Apple's MacBook Air Retina could finally get their chance next month, if current reports are to be believed. According to Christian Today, Taiwanese outlet TechNews tipped that the company is set to unveil the laptop on Feb. 24, housed inside a media event.

Looking at the calendar, prospects could be one month away from seeing a new notebook from Apple. Surely, the revelation of a specific date is inviting, but the Cupertino giant has not confirmed any launch date yet -- nor it has announced the product's existence in the first place.

In addition, the current claim may not be surprising, as we have previously reported Digitimes' citation of sources, which claimed that the new MacBook is expected to arrive in Q1 2015. These sources alleged that Quanta Computer has already started "volume production" of the Retina-powered notebook.

Interestingly, new images of an "unreleased" Apple notebook have appeared online. According to the Apple Insider, the photo set (click to see) came from Chinese blog iFanR, the subject of which is thought to be the 12-inch MacBook Air.

As far as industry speculations have taken it, the rumored MacBook Air Retina is expected to pack a 12-inch display, falling in between the existing 11- and 13-inch models. This means the current leak may actually be the similar product.

The alleged new MacBook was placed alongside the 13-inch MacBook Pro and 9.7-inch iPad Air, MacRumors reported. Expectedly, the device appeared to be very thin, just a little thicker than the iPad Air.

The above outlet observed that the new MacBook differed from the current version, as it sported a polished metal logo at the back of its screen -- instead of the iconic, backlit Apple badge. Furthermore, it appeared to have an all-glass, edge-to-edge display cover, the same thing owned by Retina MacBook Pros.

Also from our earlier note, the new MacBook Air is expected to bring a high-resolution Retina display, fanless architecture, a headphone jack, microphones, a USB Type-C port and Intel's new Broadwell Core M processor. The latter was revealed in the last International Consumer Electronics show.

The MacBook Air Retina was also rumored to house a resolution of 2732 x 1536 pixels and a new trackpad design. The notebook was suggested to come in three colors: gold, silver and space gray.

With these photos and release date speculations popping online, is it safe to say that we're nearing the laptop's release?

What do you think of the Retina-powered MacBook Air? Are you convinced that it's coming soon?
