The Xbox One has launched in many different countries and regions, and Microsoft has some early sales figures that indicate that the console has managed to sell around the same around of copies that the PlayStation 4 did after its own launch date.
Speaking to IGN, Xbox's Yusuf Mehdi revealed how excited Microsoft is to see fans so enthusiastic about the new console, especially after how hard the Xbox team worked to create the console and the games on it:
"We are humbled and grateful for the excitement of Xbox fans around the world...Seeing thousands of excited fans lined up to get their Xbox One and their love for gaming was truly a special moment for everyone on the Xbox team. We are working hard to create more Xbox One consoles and look forward to fulfilling holiday gift wishes this season."
While the million sales mark in under 24 hours certainly is impressive, it is unclear that the Xbox One was able to surpass the sales mark that the PlayStation 4 set one week earlier. Furthermore, the Xbox One was launched in 13 different countries on the Nov. 22 release date, while the PlayStation 4 was only launched in the United States on Nov. 15. This means that the Xbox One was able to only manage to reach around the same figure that Sony did with the added benefit of 12 other countries besides the United States, meaning Sony may widen the sales gap when the PlayStation 4 is given a wider launch.
Other interesting numbers were revealed by Microsoft concerning the Xbox One. In the first 24 hours that the game was available, Forza Motorsport 5 users have already managed to drive 3.6 million miles. In addition, Dead Rising 3 owners have managed to kill 60 million zombies in the game. Considering that these Xbox One exclusives are some of the best reviewed next gen games for either the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, this seems to be a good sign for the games gaining the sales figures they deserve.
As for other Xbox One exclusives, Microsoft had some other stats generated by users during the Xbox One launch. Killer Instinct fans have pulled off 7.1 million combos in the fighting game. In Ryse: Son of Rome, players have taken out 8.5 million enemies in the game.
Look out for more Xbox One news as the console continues to launch in different countries.
