The new trailer of the "Walking Dead" series' Season 5 comeback promises to show fans how the alive would kill the half-dead in their many creative ways — such as running over them.

"After five-and-a-half seasons of busting zombie skulls, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) sounds more pragmatic than ever when it comes to the survival of his rag-tag gang," said Rolling Stones.

If you've been watching him in the past seasons — and hear him say in the trailer: "We do what we need to do and then we get to live... I know we'll be ok because this is how we survive" — you'll know he's more stable now.

If that 30-second trailer were any indication, there's going to be a lot of action, gore and coagulated blood.

"Rick clocks one zombie with a machete and Daryl Dixon [Norman Reedus] launches an arrow through the back of a walker's head," the Rolling Stones described, adding, "The new trailer doesn't offer any intricate details about the upcoming season, though it is slightly more specific than the clip released last week."

With the title "Another Day," the thrilling preview shows that the scriptwriters decided to keep Rick rational and decisive in his anti-stranger stance — which we totally understand after what they've been through in the gruelling past episodes with carnivores in what they thought would be humanity's last frontier, Terminus.

"...[H]arsh decisions are necessary until everyone's safe," said IGN.com. "Meanwhile, the survivors are all back out on the open road, clinging to hope that they'll find a new sanctuary."

The "Walking Dead" has been the ratings magnet for the premiere of Season 5, claiming 17 million viewers, and plans to continue on that with all those elements, said Screen Rant.

Except, the piece also said, it has been at a low point: "While there have high points and low points during the first four seasons... Season 5 feels like a string of low points mashed together with 'filler' episodes and long-winded exposition that does little-to-nothing to move the story along or explain the characters' motivations."

It also noted an unwisely exhausted storyline with Terminus, too many throwaway characters — most of whom brutally killed by way of slits in the throat, still at Terminus.

"The Walking Dead season 5's mid-season finale ended on the most predictable note with Beth [Emily Kinney] getting killed in the creepy Atlanta hospital," noted the International Business Times.

What will be keeping us on our toes, of course, is the fate of Terminus and the fact that there is no cure in Washington DC, the outlet added.

We are also wondering if they will finally heed this open letter from a year ago asking them to not kill off their original characters.

The show will return to AMC on Feb. 8 at 9 p.m. ET.
