The Boston Celtics are willing to send veteran Gerald Wallace and Kris Humphries to the New York Knicks for All-Star power forward Amar'e Stoudemire, according to a source close to situation.

The Celtics stayed active on the trading floor, but this time it's not concerned at all with All-Star playmaker Rajon Rondo. Stoudemire, who's having perhaps the most miserable start of his career, appears as the latest target for the rebuilding Celtics.

The Celtics pulled off a blockbuster deal with Brooklyn Nets last summer, sending veterans Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry to their division rival. In return, Boston received a bevy of draft picks, MarShoon Brooks, Keith Bogans, Wallace and Humphries.

Wallace and Humphries have been a non-factor for their new team as both averaged below five points in limited playing time. On the other hand, Stoudemire has been producing 3.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in less than 11 minutes per game as he recovers from an offseason knee surgery.

Celtics general manager Danny Ainge is apparently interested in bringing in a legitimate All-Star big man in Boston after trading away Garnett.

There no doubt there's going to be a lot of risk in trading for an injury-prone player like Stoudemire, but the Celtics GM is willing to pull the trigger on this deal. If negotiations go well, the Celtics will have to absorb the remaining balance of Stoudemire's current contract with the Knicks.

Stoudemire is entitled to receive $21.7 million this year and another $23.4 million in the final year of the $100 million contract he signed in the summer of 2010.

The Celtics are even open to including Courtney Lee in the package for Stoudemire, as long as they can dump these contracts somewhere else. In addition, Boston will have the financial flexibility beyond 2015 with Stoudemire's deal expiring after next season.
