Microsoft is gearing up to show off the next evolution of Windows through the "Windows 10: The Next Chapter" event to be hosted at their headquarters in Redmond, Washington on Wednesday, Info World reported.

There is a lot to look forward to at the event, with Microsoft unveiling their latest projects and the biggest names in the industry joining in to speak at panels and show off the best and latest that technology has to offer.

CEO Satya Nadella, Corporate Vice President Joe Belfiore, Executive Vice-President Terry Myerson, the head of Microsoft's Xbox division Phil Spencer and more will reportedly be speaking at the event.

As for what will be featured, it's expected that Microsoft will finally be launching the Consumer Preview of Windows 10, according to The Inquirer.

One of the features that may be showcased and talked about is the Start Button, which caused outcries from users when the Windows 8 popped up without it. The Windows 8.1 appeared with a new Start Button, though it wasn't able to do much, so many are wondering how it'll come out in the Windows 10.

There's also the fate of the Microsoft virtual assistant Cortana, and how Microsoft has fashioned it against rivals Google Now and Apple's Siri. The price tag is also an issue, because while some could only hope for a freeware, there are speculations that Windows 10 is the start of a new price structure for Windows, The Inquirer added.

A few are even hopeful that Windows will explain the lack of Windows 9, and why they said it was "appropriate" to name the latest one as Windows 10.

Of course, a more in-depth look at the Windows 10's Continuum feature and its user interface is already expected, especially after the Continuum was unavailable during the preview release. Many are waiting how the new icons and tiles will look, along with the keyboard, mouse and other features, according to End Gadget.

Many would also like to hear about the mobile version for Windows 10 and how it will fare especially with any upcoming phones.

It's also expected that there will be a discussion on games, since Spencer is reportedly part of the panel, which will hopefully spell good news for gamers.

The small details are also important, such as videos, music, FLAC and MKV support, a new Calculator, Notepad, Photos and more.

Those who are interested in following the event can check out sites that will be liveblogging the event, such as Windows and Microsoft, when it kicks off on Wednesday at 9 a.m. PST.
