Surprising many, major U.S. carriers have already started pushing out Android 4.4 KitKat for Motorola's flagship smartphone, the Moto X.
So far, carriers Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile have all pushed out the latest version of Android for their respective Moto X variants (and, if you can believe it, Verizon was first to do so!). There's no word on when Sprint will join in on the fun, but expect the carrier to be close behind.
As with all over-the-air updates, not everybody will receive the firmware at once. When it does arrive, remember to have your device charged and tethered to a Wi-Fi connection to not incur any extra charges.
Android 4.4 KitKat brings a number of new features, the most glaring of which should be the brand new look. Google has opted for a cleaner, more colorful scheme that utilizes more screen space than ever, much in the same direction that Apple chose to take iOS in with iOS 7, but the similarities begin to wane there. Google has integrated Google Now into more phone functions than ever, allowing the intelligent personal assistant to attempt to display relevant information before it's even asked. You can read a full list of changes at Motorola's support page.
Android 4.4 KitKat is also available for the developer edition of the Moto X.
Let us know if you manage to snag Android 4.4 KitKat for your Moto X and what you think of the new experience in the comments section below.
