It seems that we haven't seen the last of FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully just yet, because Fox Television Group is interested in reviving the hit sci-fi series, "The X-Files," almost thirteen years since the last episode starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, aired in 2002.

Fox co-chairmen and CEOs Gary Newman and Dana Walden confirmed on Saturday the rumors of the possibility of X-Files getting back on the small screen. "It's true that we've had some conversations on 'X-Files. We're hopeful of being able to bring that back at some point," reported Entertainment Weekly.

Variety also reported that Walden emphasized that there is barely any outreach yet to series creator Chris Carter and stars Anderson and Duchovny, and despite plans, the deal is far from being done.

The website also noted that along with "The X-Files", the network is also interested in bringing back "Prison Break" and "24," although there's not much information about that as of the moment.

The network has been successful in reviving old series in the past. "Family Guy" for instance, ran from 1999 to 2002, and continued being a hit when it was brought back to the small screen in 2005. A summer 2014 reboot of "24" also proved to be successful, which was why the network talked of getting a reboot on the series, with or without star Kiefer Sutherland, reported CNN.

The revival of the shows, according to Variety, is an attempt by Fox to rebuild the brand in the minds of their viewers, and according to Newman, that image is "defined by showmanship," something that is "broad and inclusive." This is how they determined which shows to keep and which ones to revive over the past years.

As noted, Newman and Walden are among for the network to be "a place where things feel big and bold, risky and different. When people come to sample a new show on Fox, it should be something that feels compelling, original and has integrity. It's really the same sorts of things we considered at the studio."

On the other hand, while it is a possibility for Mulder and Sully to be back, the network had other news for Fox Entertainment fans as they announced the renewal of "Empire," "Gotham," and "Brooklyn Nine Nine."

New shows have also been announced, including casting for "Grease Live" which will star Julianne Hough and Vanessa Hudgens, and a horror comedy called "Scream Queens," which will star Lea Michele Joe Mangianello, and Ariana Grande.
