He lives in a pineapple under the sea -- but as the title of his new movie suggested, it looks like we won't be seeing much of SpongeBob SquarePants filtering nutrients down at the Bikini Bottom.

Set to hit theaters on Feb. 6, 2015, "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water" is Nickelodeon's second film for the franchise. As told by Screen Rant, the success of the franchise's television series led to the 2004 picture, "The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie."

SpongeBob was created by marine biologist and animator Stephen Hillenburg, first appearing on TV in 1999. Kids these days may not believe that this cute, yellow, square-shaped invertebrate is actually older than them, given that he was first thought of in 1984, lz95.net wrote.

Directed by Paul Tibbitt, the upcoming movie brings the talents of Antonio Banderas, Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence and Douglas Lawrence, Comingsoon.net noted. According to the outlet, the film is under Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies, and as you may expect, built on animation and comedy genres.

The film is written by Jonathan Aibel, Glenn Berger and Paul Tibbitt, wrote Rotten Tomatoes. As of press time, the outlet recorded an audience score of 90% (want to see) and an average rating of 4.5/5, from a total of 11,984 user ratings.

One of the most surprising things about the movie is its apparent setting, which the title generously claimed to be "Out of Water." We know that SpongeBob leaves the Bikini Bottom's comforts once in a while (thanks to Sandy), but as far as the film's trailers are concerned, it appears that much of the story will take place in our very own, terrestrial world.

Talking about trailers, viewers are given preview of the movie's plot, which all seem to start with the acquisition of a magical book by an evil pirate. The narration goes, "With this magic book, any evil plan I write comes true. But to harness its power, I need the final page that is protected deep below the surface, by one legendary hero."

The pirate launches an attack at the Bikini Bottom, bringing horror to all of the ocean's creatures. SpongeBob collects his team composed of Patrick, Sandy, Mr. Krabs and Squidward, in an attempt of getting the book back.

Eventually, the five arrive in "our" world, popping up from a sandcastle. This is where the transition from 2D to 3D animation takes place. That said, we see the best of both worlds packed in one convenient theatrical release.
