Former Baltimore Ravens player Ray Rice, who got embroiled in a domestic violence controversy after he was caught on CCTV camera punching his wife Janay inside a casino elevator, received some really good words from his better half.
Celebrating her birthday last Wednesday, Janay posted a photo of her and her husband on Instagram and mentioned that he is the "best husband in the world."
"Ok first off I literally have the best husband in the world, he went above and beyond to make my birthday special. He ended the day with a surprise dinner party with my family & friends," Janay wrote on the photo caption.
Vibe said that the reason for such a sweet post was that the NFL player made an effort to make his wife feel special during her birthday.
"He hired former Hell's Kitchen competitor, J.R. Robinson, to cater the dinner party and had a custom cake made into the shape of a Chanel bag," Vibe added in its report,, noting that the couple was seen really happy during the party.
Janay's posts on Instagram about her birthday and her husband were met with criticisms by many netizens who reminded her of the horror she went through at the hands of her husband during the night where she passed out inside the elevator after receiving a strong punch from him. But it was clear that Janay has completely forgotten about the incident and moved on with her life, forgiving her husband for what he did, though a lot of people did not seem to agree.
A Washington Post report recalled that Rice was terminated from the Ravens when the video of him hitting his wife surfaced on the Internet, forcing the NFL to suspend him indefinitely. It also noted that Rice filed a grievance complaint against his former team amounting to $3.5 million saying that this is equal to his salary when he was cut from the team.
Reports revealed that the two camps were supposed to meet during a hearing in Maryland this Thursday but Washington Post said that they already reached a settlement.
If ever there is really such arrangement happening, it only means that Rice and the Ravens are really done for good.
Rice was supposed to argue his termination from the Ravens, The Washington Post reported, saying that it violated Article 46 of the NFL's collective bargaining agreement, which states that an NFL player is prohibited from receiving more than one punishment for a single violation. When the decision was done, Rice was still serving a two-game suspension, it added.
The Ravens, on the other hand, were supposed to present argument that they cut Rice "because his skills had diminished, or that they foresaw that other running backs on the team - such as Justin Forsett, who rushed for 1,266 yards this season - would supplant him as the team's starter," The Washington Post noted.
