With an impressive variety of titles, the XBox One's collection of exclusive games represents one of the strongest arguments for buying the console early. To help sort out the strong launch exclusives from the mediocre, here's a quick guide for the Xbox One exclusives.
Two of the strongest Xbox One launch titles also happen to be two exclusives games available only on the console. Forza Motorsport 5 is the best-reviewed game of the Xbox One's lineup with an 82 score on Metacritic, and represents an attention to detail that few games are able to match. At the same time, Dead Rising 3 (78) allows players to explore a open world full of hordes of zombies on a scale that has never been seen before. These two games show what the Xbox One can do from a hardware perspective, and also afford users the chance to explore Kinect functionality in games, as well as bonus content on the new Smartglass app launched for the console.
Several Xbox One exclusives, while not as critically acclaimed as Forza Motorsport 5 or Dead Rising 3, offer fans of a particular genre a solid choice to explore on the console. For example, Killer Instinct (74) is a reboot of the fighting game series, which tries out a new way for developers to deliver this type of game to users. The game is initially free to play, but will only have one fighter available for players to use. Players will be able to buy additional playable characters later. On the other hand, Zoo Tycoon (71) gives up to four players the chance to create their own zoo and try to attract tourists to their virtual nature preserves.
While these games may be the cream of the Xbox One-exclusive crop, some other exclusives are not quite as strong. Prime example: The massively hyped game Ryse: Son of Rome. The game has managed a Metacritic score of 60, with critics noting that the game suffers from repetitive combat, even though the game is smooth and graphically impressive. Another game, Crimson Dragon (55), falls flat due to the game's lack of features that distinguish it from an Xbox 360 game.
There are definitely some strong exclusives to choose from with the Xbox One. Look out for more news about the Xbox One right here as the console gains steam.
