There have been rumors of Andrew Garfield getting fired from being Spider-Man while Marvel thinks of including the webbed superhero to the Avengers lineup. However, in a report by Master Herald, it seems that the third film is in the works, as casting is now ongoing.
The website reported that the company responsible for this stage of production, Bill Beckman Casting, confirmed that Andrew Garfield will still be playing the lead role, alongside Dane DeHaan, who played Peter Parker's best friend, Harry Osbourne in the previous film.
With that, here are the reasons why it's a sure thing that "The AmazingSpider-Man 3" is on the go:
1. Main actors are already on board, which means that the timeline for the film is already set. Considering Andrew Garfield's and Dane DeHaan's busy schedules, it is important for the studio to have them contracted to pull it off. As Master Herald pointed out, Major films don't shoot sequentially, so if casting calls for extras have already been announced, there is a probability that the major scenes are already done filming.
2. Casting calls are clear indications that the film is going to enter filming very soon. Bill Beckham Casting did not divulge specific details about who's going to be in the movie, but according to Breathe Cast, the studio has called for a general 18-65 call for men and women of all ethnicities, making it seem that most of the characters will be picked through the open call process.
3. There has been a lot of attention on the film going around, and given that the second film in the franchise did not fare as well as the production company hoped, they would be making up for the disastrous reviews by going above and beyond their usual efforts.
But while "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" is a go, there is still a question on whether it will be bumping Sinister 6, or if it will stay at its last reported slate for 2018. However, as previously pointed out, major scenes are the first to finish filming, and if "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" is already out calling for extras, it's too early to do so for a 2018 film.
More than Sony's less than stellar results for Garfield's take on the webbed hero, it has been suggested repeatedly that Sony make a deal with Marvel. As Blastr pointed out, the company could do more with Spider-Man than Sony, considering how he's an integral part of the Avengers in the comic book version of the superhero universe, and having him even make a cameo on one of the many upcoming movies could help boost the Avengers lineup and make the franchise issues less complicated.
What do you think should happen to Spider-Man?
