One of today's most controversial devices is Apple's iPod touch, thanks to the unending production of industry speculations. It's been two years since the fifth-generation iPod touch came out (Oct. 2012), and the Ecumenical News reported that its successor was expected in the last quarter of 2014.

Needless to say, Apple has skipped telling the public something about its compact media player in the previous year. The iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 3, Retina iMacs and other things Apple have all made impressions in 2014, making it logical to wonder what actually happened with the iPod touch line. Hence, rumors were born to multiply.

We'll have to hear official words coming from the Cupertino giant first. Nevertheless, we've curated five of the loudest and most recent talks aimed at the sixth-generation iPod touch below.

1. The iPod touch 6G Arrives in March 2015

The International CES passed without Apple making the slightest hint of appearance. The next big tech event would be the Mobile World Congress, happening in Barcelona, Spain on Mar. 2 - 5. Incidentally, the Ecumenical News cited rumors which claimed that the iPod touch 6G arrives in March, alongside the Apple Watch.

2. The iPod touch 6G Packs an A8 Processor

Citing information from the Stabley Times, Christian Today reported that Apple "is making sure that there will be no leaked information" surrounding the rumored iPod touch.

The outlet went on to cite that the device would pack an A8 chip, much like the spec powering the iPhone 6. Specifically, the latter owns an A8 chip with 64-bit architecture and M8 motion coprocessor.

3. The iPod touch 6G Comes in Two Sizes

Another similarity allegedly shared by the media player is the iPhone's size. According to Master Herald, reports indicated that the device will be offered in 4.7- and 5.5-inch versions, much like the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, respectively.

4. The iPod touch 6G is Cheaper Than the iPhone 6

This is one particular rumor close to reality, given the fact that the iPod touch line lacked core features present in the iPhones. At present, the iPhone 6 starts at $199 for its 16 GB version.

5. The iPod touch 6G's Features & Colors

Previously, we've noted that the device was rumored to pack Retina Display, Apple Pay and Touch ID. These features have established their presence among Apple's latest products. At the time of reporting, we've also cited talks indicating the inclusion of an A9 processor (instead of A8).

Christian Today believed that the increase in display size is linked to a change in color options. Citing complaints about the line's iconic playful colors, the outlet is convinced that Apple could be forging the iPod to become a "more serious product."
