If rumors of Katy Perry and Taylor Swift being frenemies weren't true before, Katy getting back together with John Mayer (who Tay dated in the ancient times) could make those rumors come true now.

Almost a year after they broke up in February 2014, the couple was spotted together again as a couple, having dinner at Chateau Marmont last weekend. People reported that Katy and "Girls" star Allison Williams met up early in the evening, and were joined by Allison's fiancé, Ricky Van Veen and John later on. John arrivied in a large-brimmed hat and kissed Katy hello, with the pair proceeding on to a lot of PDA and holding hands at their table.

The party left Chateu Marmont at about 11:15 pm and according to the Master Herald, John went to Katy's after and did not leave until the afternoon of the following day.

Rumors are that Katy and John have sparked "fireworks" once again. A source for E! News even said, "They seemed very comfortable together and kissed several times. It was a cold night and they held hands and John pulled her in close when she got cold."

While it may be a surprise for fans, close friends of the couple were much less so, considering that the two have been communicating constantly, even after their very public breakup. A source revealed, "They never stopped talking and being friendly while they were broken up. They are really excited about being together right now and spending as much time as possible."

Katy and John remained mum about their breakup, although months later, Katy did drop a clue for Harper's Bazaar Magazine, saying, "I had to learn about taking care of myself before I could take care of others. I want to mommy everyone. I want to take care of them. I want to save them, and I forget myself in the meantime. I learned that through therapy."

Now, it seems that Katy has learned what she needs to learn about relationships, because a source revealed to E! News, "They are definitely back together and seeing where it goes. They have spent almost every night together this week."

It's a happy (relatively) new year for Katy and John, and may love be sweeter the second time around.
