Ben Stiller has expressed interest to include Cara Delevingne in the cast of "Zoolander 2."
Speaking to MTV about an update on the sequel, Stiller confirmed that a script has already been made.
"There is a script, I won't deny there's a script, and there's been a reading of the script... but it hasn't yet been fully formulated," the actor told MTV. He also said that he "definitely would" like the 22-year-old British supermodel to have a role in the film. Delevingne was first rumored to be involved in "Zoolander 2" a few months ago.
According to Deadline, the comedy film will still feature the story of supermodel Derek Zoolander played by Stiller. There are also rumors going around that Will Ferrell will reprise his role as the evil fashion guru Mugatu, with Owen Wilson expected to reprise his role as Derek's rival and sometimes BFF Hansel. Back in November, Penelope Cruz was also confirmed to star in the film.
Wilson also sat down with MTV and shared his thoughts about the sequel, saying that he has seen the script and "it seems funny."
"Well, I don't mean to be coy, but I know that there is a script and Ben is considering it. So we'll see. We have to do it," the actor added, as quoted by Master Herald.
Stiller will also serve as the director of the film and Justin Theroux will be penning the script. It took almost 14 years for the sequel of "Zoolander" to happen, with the first movie released in theaters on September 28, 2001, Deadline noted.
Stiller previously stated that the production of "Zoolander 2" was on hold. He also revealed in the Taormina Film Festival that "the film was heavily discussed" and "has been in the works for ten years now," according to Master Herald.
Back in 2011, the 49-year-old actor stated that they are being careful to not mess up the sequel, that's why the production of the new movie is delayed.
"It's ten years later and most of it is set in Europe... it's basically Derek and Hansel... though the last movie ended on a happy note a lot of things have happened in the meantime. Their lives have changed and they're not really relevant anymore. It's a new world for them. Will Ferrell is written into the script and he's expressed interest in doing it. I think Mugatu is an integral part of the 'Zoolander' story, so yes, he features in a big way," the actor said, as quoted in a report by SlashFilm.
Stiller will produce "Zoolander 2" with Stuart Cornfield, ComingSoon.net added. It is still unknown whether the actor's father, 84-year-old Jerry Stiller, will have a cameo appearance in the sequel. He played weak-willed agent Maury Balltein in the original movie, Deadline reported.
There have been no official reports yet about the premiere date of "Zoolander 2."
