It was a scene to behold seeing tennis star Maria Sharapova carrying and hugging a koala bear in Australia.

On her recent trip to Brisbane, Sports World News reported that Sharapova got reacquianted with Sinnamon the Koala which she met last year in another Brisbane event. It also noted that she met with Sinnamon after defeating Yaroslava Shvedova during her opening match at Brisbane International.

On her Twitter account, Sharapova shared her happy moment with the koala bear with a photo captioned "This is our second meeting. We're bonding. #Australia #Koala."

It was noted that Sharapova enjoyed every moment with Sinnamon though it was just a brief encounter as she had to return to the competition. She defeated Carla Suaez with a 6-3, 6-1 score advancing to the semifinals.

The Associated Press said that Sharapova dropped her opening service game but she was able to recover from that bad start and won the game.

"I lost to her last year. We went back and forth with our victories in 2014, so I'm always a little bit aware of girls that I lose to. Maybe made a little bit too many unforced errors in the beginning, but then got a good rhythm and finished strong," Sharapova told AP.

It has been reported that the tennis star dropped five games in her opening matches during the season. She is set to face Ukranian Elina Svitolina who recently beat Angelique Kerber of Germany.

Sports World News said that Sharapova is currently the No. 1 seed in Brisbane though she noted that competitor Serena Williams is still very much in fighting form despite her age.

"You can't say someone is on the edge of the cliff when they are No. 1 in the world. She still came through and finished the season strong. Even though she's 33 years old, she's still very strong and very powerful and has so much experience and that shows when she plays on court," Sharapova was quoted by Sports World News as saying.

Boyfriend and fellow tennis player, Grigor Dimitrov, accompanied Sharapova in Australia as he was also competing in the men's decision. The couple has been dating since 2012, according to multiple reports.

"I have a tremendous amount of respect for [Grigor] as a person and it's nice to share each other's company every day and forget about what we do, have other interests. If you are happy and that person brings you happiness, you have to cherish it as much as you can," she said in a Daily Mail report. It has also been noted that Dimitrov was not at all jealous with his girlfriend's hugging moments with Sinnamon who seemed to be very friendly with the stunning tennis player.
