You'd think anybody will jump at the chance to date gorgeous Australian actress Nicole Kidman, but apparently, she dazzles so much that some people could totally miss at the chance of dating her.
That's what host Jimmy Kimmel found out when the actress stopped by "The Tonight Show" last Tuesday.
As Jimmy recalled in the show, a mutual friend in New York City brought Nicole to his apartment on a short notice, leading him to scramble to pick up some cheese and crackers for his guest, considering that he only had video games in his place.
However, he was surprised (and flustered) when he found out that there was more to the story than just a random visit from a friend. As Us Magazine noted, Jimmy thought the meeting was for a potential job, while Nicole believed it to be one of the most unsuccessful (not to mention embarrassing) setups she's ever been in.
It started off with a non-romantic encounter, Jimmy showing them in while wearing a baseball bat and a pair of sweats.
"I liked you!" the Oscar-winning actress told Jimmy, telling him that she was single at the time and interested in meeting the comedian. The Daily Mail noted that back then, she had just recently split up with Tom Cruise, and is yet to meet her current husband, Keith Urban.
"Wait, what? What are you talking about? Could I have dated Nicole Kidman?" asked the host, clearly embarrassed and shocked to know that he had been on a date with the beautiful blonde without knowing it.
Nicole, also almost equally embarrassed, added, "Well I get there and you're there in a baseball cap, and like -- nothing. You wouldn't talk, you didn't say anything you were like, 'Hey, mmm, mmm, mmm!'"
Jimmy defended himself, screaming, "I didn't say, 'Mmm mmm mmm,' I was nervous! I didn't know this was a thing, I thought it was for a movie or something."
Nicole laughed, telling him, "Well it was like a hang. And then you put a video game on or something and I was like, 'This is so bad.' And you didn't talk at all. So after about an hour and I half I thought, 'He has no interest, this is so embarrassing.' So I left, and went, 'OK, no chemistry. Maybe he's gay!'"
See, even big stars can be embarrassed and feel rejected at times, and the episode just proved it. Check out the rest of the hilariously awkward encounter here:
