Hollywood starts the year right with a couple of surprises and one of which is a whirlwind wedding for Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden.

Time Magazine confirmed in a report that the couple, who have been dating only since May, have tied the knot Monday night, in the "Sex Tape" star's home in Beverly Hills, surrounded by their family and close friends.

According to Hollywood Life, the wedding was attended by some of the couple's celebrity friends including Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Samanthan Ronson among others. Their ringbearer is Benji's nephew, Sparrow, who is the son of his twin brother Joel Madden and his wife Nicole Richie.

The happy couple told People, "We couldn't be happier to begin our new journey together surrounded by our closest family and friends." Their year is off to a good start, and a source for People noted, "Getting married is the next step when you are totally in love and comfortable with someone. Cameron has found true happiness."

A source even added, "It was a big wedding, but they still managed to make it feel very personal. Only their families and very special friends attended. It all felt very down-to-earth and sweet. Guests arrived smiling and almost seemed giddy. Everyone was excited to be a part of the wedding."

Diaz and Madden were spotted at Cielo on Saturday, and a restaurant onlooker observed, "They were with a small group and had a really romantic table setting with rose petals and candles. It looked like they were celebrating."

According to the magazine, the couple hosted a rehearsal dinner over the weekend for friends and family, which included Drew Barrymore, Joel Madden, and Nicole Richie.

The "Bad Teacher" actress has previously dated A-listers which included Justin Timberlake and Jared Leto, but apparently, in a report by ABC News, it was Benjie's sister-in-law, Nicole who introduced the pair, as she revealed on "Watch What Happens Live." She said back then, "I am a devoted sister-in-law and I am happy for anybody who's happy. I want everyone to be surrounded with love."

The couple then officially made their romance public in June and July, when they were seen going on coffee runs together, and he seemed to have swept her off her feet.

In an interview with Esquire Magazine in July, Diaz was adamant about not marrying and having kids, saying, "It's so much more work to have children. To have lives besides your own that you are responsible for -- I didn't take that on. That did make things easier for me. A baby -- that's all day, every day for eighteen years."

Not that it's all selfish. She also added, "I like protecting people, but I was never drawn to being a mother."

It seems that she finally found a man who will prove her otherwise. Best wishes to the new couple!
