Fans eagerly waiting for Nike and the Jordan Brand to fulfill their promise of more faithful Air Jordan replications are getting even more excited as the sneakers' release dates inch closer.
"Spring 2015 will mark the birth of a new era in the history of Air Jordan sneakers," said 23isback. "Not only is it the 30th anniversary of the AirJordan 1, but it will also set in motion the process of official announcements about remastered Jordan releases 2015."
Complex added: "From remastered silhouettes of OG designs to special anniversary pairs of the Air Jordan 1 and 7, the Jumpman will be coming for your wallets with its 2015 lineup."
Air Jordan 4 "Columbia" (Jan. 10), Air Jordan 7 "French Blue" (Jan. 24) and "Oreo" (February) will be $190, said Complex. Sold for the same price will be Jordan 1 "Laser" (Feb. 7).
For $140, the same report said, Air Jordan 1 Low OG "Black/Varsity Red" will be in stores on Valentine's Day with Air Jordan 10 "Bulls Over Broadway" and "Lady Liberty" (both $190).
Complex added that Air Jordan 1 Low OG "White/Natural Grey" ($140) will be sold beginning Feb. 18. Air Jordan 7 "Marvin the Martian" ($190) will be available March 7, and "Teal" ($190) follows a week later with Air Jordan 20 "Stealth" ($190). Air Jordan 10 "Double Nickel" will be out on March 28.
Five more colorways will be released from April to June at a price range of $160-$190, per Complex.
The remastered Air Jordan development
Sole Collector reported that the lineup for Spring 2015 was previewed in New York City late in 2014, explaining that remastering means getting models as close as possible to the first releases in both quality and feel.
"The process of remastering retro Air Jordan sneakers involved going through the Nike DNA, i.e. Jordan Brand's archives, and combing through to all the OG retro Air Jordans," said 23 is back of the meticulous process.
The whole endeavor would see the remastered models with increases in prices of between 10 and 15 percent, said Kustoo.com. That would be about $20, it added.
According to a Sole Collector exclusive, the Spring 2015 releases will only mark the beginning of a barrage of remastered models.
"We are going to be remastering our whole retro line starting Spring 15... It's a pretty big deal," said Dave Schechter, vice president of Jordan Footwear. "The main models for the season will be around 7s, 4,s and 10s... But everything that comes into the line from that moment forward will be in that remastered sense."
In the same report, Jordan Brand product line manager Jeff Atienza explained the journey: "It's the small details that end up becoming a bigger deal. Our consumers are so savvy. They know when a Jumpman is missing, or when a Jumpman is too big or too small, or when fingers or laces are missing. I think it's just a combination of a lot of small things."
