A new set of photos from the set of "Crimson Peak" has been released, and it features lead actor Tom Hiddleston looking like a goth in an equally eerie and mysterious abode.

In the images, Hiddleston can be seen clad in black clothing while standing in the middle of a spooky house, with a grand staircase looming behind him. You can check out the pictures on Collider.

Aside from Hiddleston, the gothic horror film also stars Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, and Charlie Hunnam, with Guillermo del Toro as the director and the writer. Matthew Robbins also helped in penning the movie's screenplay, Collider noted. Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, del Toro and Callum Greene produced the film, while Jillian Share serves as the executive producer.

"Crimson Peak" will debut in theaters on October 16, 2015, according to the news outlet. The film's official synopsis via Torrilla reads: "A young woman (Wasikowska) is swept off by her feet by a charismatic suitor (Hiddleston) and taken back to his ancestral home. There she finds more than she bargained for, including a jealous sister (Chastain) and more than a few skeletons in the closet."

Del Toro previously discussed what's in store for moviegoers when they see "Crimson Peak." According to the director, the upcoming film will focus on his Spanish horror roots and that fans should prepare themselves for a complete change in direction. Some of del Toro's Spanish horror movies include "Pan's Labyrinth," "The Devil's Backbone," and "Cronos," according to Screenrant.

"'Crimson Peak' is a much, much, much smaller movie, completely character-driven. It's an adult movie, an R-rated movie, pretty adult. Shockingly different from anything I've done in the English language. Normally, when I go to do a movie in America for the spectacle and younger audience, for 'Blade' or whatever. This movie's tone is scary and it's the first time I get to do a movie more akin to what I do in the Spanish movies," del Toro said, as quoted by Shock Till You Drop .

The horror film will also no doubt showcase adult content, which includes gore, sex, and "visceral, physical violence," Screen Rant added.

SlashFilm also cited del Toro's remark at Comic-Con last year, where he said that the movie will veer away from the traditional and normal romantic story of the female lead.

"What I wanted was the freedom to tackle a great adult story for a female lead. I think that it's great when a female lead is introduced through a normal romantic story but then you say, now what? Let us see her live past all that, past her getting the guy. F*ck that sh*t. Let us see her become her own person," the director explained, as quoted by SlashFilm.
