Apple has been secretive about the rumored iPod Touch 6. With the 5th generation still out in the market, the company hasn't mentioned the iPod Touch 5's successor in their two most recent product launch events, according to Stabley Times. Rumors about the 6th gen's specs, however, are still all around the Internet.

Noted below are the device's rumored features, as reported by Stabley Times.

The iPod Touch 6 and the iPhone 6 will have the same functionality when it comes to processing power and app compatibility through the identical A8 chip. The 6th gen of the iPod Touch "will come in 4.7 and 5.5 inch display sizes," which is not far from Apple's most recent smartphone, the news outlet noted.

Stabley Times claims that the iPod Touch 6 will come out in markets early this year after months of postponement. This delay is due to the fact that the rumored device has almost the same specifications as the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, and the consumer demands for Apple's latest smartphones hinder production for the iPod Touch 6. However, Crossmap noted that "in the past week, the iPhone availability has since caught up and the shipping demands have declined a little."

Stabley Times also claimed that the iPod Touch 6 could appear in the same metallic colors like the iPhone 6. If true, this indicates that "Apple is serious about making the iPod 6 a mainstream hit product." If the music device, however, would appear in day-glo colors (such as the iPhone 5C), it would mean that the company is hoping to target the younger audience once again and gear the adults to the pricier and more cost-effective iPhone.

More iPod Touch 6th generation rumors

Gospel Herald claimed that the iPod Touch 6th gen will launch along with the iOS 8.2 and the wearable Apple iWatch. Meanwhile, Christian Today noted that the device is also rumored to feature the digital buddy Siri and Apple Pay, the company's new mobile payment service. As for the price, we earlier predicted that the iPod Touch 6 could be purchased at a lower cost than the iPhone 6.

Despite of all these rumors about the iPod Touch 6th gen, there are also reports that say Apple may not roll out the gadget. The last iPod Touch, the 5th gen, was released back in 2012.

"With the advent of high-end smartphones that offer everything in a single package, a gadget that plays music and videos becomes insignificant, believed to have no chances of survival in a showground where more capable devices dominate," Christian Today reported.

These are all unconfirmed reports, however. Until then, users would still have to wait for official news from Apple about their upcoming products.
