Photos of the alleged Microsoft Lumia 1030, popularly dubbed as "McLaren," have surfaced earlier in December. The leaked images popped up in Chinese site Baidu, wrote GSMArena (click to see).

As told by the outlet, the handset was said to be the cancelled successor of the Nokia Lumia 1020 -- until the recent leak proved otherwise. In addition, the device was noted to be an upcoming smartphone by Microsoft.

The dropping of the Nokia label isn't breaking news. Microsoft has already hinted on the idea earlier, The Verge noted. Accordingly, "Microsoft Lumia" becomes the new branding, with Nokia France being one of the first countries to adopt it.

Because of this move, the next Lumia smartphones are expected to show up with "Microsoft" in their official labels.

Since Microsoft has not confirmed the Lumia 1030, it may be safe to assume that the device remains as "Nokia Lumia 1030," at least for now. We're looking forward to hear more official word.

Release Date

The Inquisitr suggested that Lumia 1030 could arrive in late 2015, alongside Windows 10. Interestingly, if the device launches by itself, the outlet noted that any day would be a viable release date.

Display

While the exact diagonal size of Lumia 1030's screen is unknown, Phone Arena reported that it's "definitely bigger" than the iPhone 6's. As the latter takes on a 4.7-inch display, we expect to see the next Lumia phone built above this margin.

The source went on to cite the device's possible resolution, which comes at 1080 x 1920 pixels.

If the report turns true, the Lumia 1020 is swallowed at once. That's because the smartphone features a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels.

Camera

Design & Trend cited rumors speculating that Lumia 1030 packs a whopping 50 MP main camera. If this holds truth, the device is in immediate advantage over Lumia 1020, which housed a 41 MP snapper.

Processor and RAM

The Lumia 1030 may be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, said Phone Arena. The source specified that this is a quad-core MSM8974, variant of Snapdragon 800 / 801. The device was hinted to pack 2 GB worth of RAM.

Again, the Lumia 1020 is put at behind for having a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor. RAM seems fair for the device, as it also owned 2 GB of it.

Storage Options

According to the Inquisitr, the Lumia 1030 is rumored to house 32 GB of onboard storage. Apparently, its predecessor offers the same thing, including 15 GB of free cloud.
