Microsoft knows how to spice up the holidays of Xbox Live Gold members as they've announced January's list of free Games with Gold titles earlier this week. Major Nelson reported that three games are gracing the company's consoles next month: one for the Xbox One and two for the Xbox 360.

Starting off with the Xbox One, Live Gold members get to download "Dark Dreams Don't Die" -- "D4" for short -- for the entire month of January. Again, this comes free among registered members. The title normally retails for $14.99.

Developed by Access Games and published by Microsoft Studios, "Dark Dreams Don't Die" is an action-adventure game that chronicles the story of a time-traveling detective. As told by the Xbox Store, he embarks on the intellectual journey of solving his wife's murder before he attempts to prevent it.

Accordingly, the detective will make use of his supernatural ability to unlock secrets of the living past, touching "mementos" that ultimately reveal the cause of his wife's passing. The game was initially released on Sept. 19, 2014.

Meanwhile, Live Gold members owning the Xbox 360 are eligible to download "MX vs. ATV Alive" for free from Jan. 1 to Jan. 15.

Originally released on May 10, 2011, "MX vs. ATV Alive" is a racing, flying, sports and recreation game that utilizes revolutionary and real-world physics engine. Xbox noted that the game features an online multiplayer mode, catering two to twelve participants. Other online features include content downloads, leaderboards and voice chat.

The game was developed by THQ Digital Studios Phoenix and published by THQ Inc. It retails for $19.99.

Finally, starting Jan. 16, Xbox 360 Live Gold members may get their hands on "The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings." Its free download extends until Jan. 31.

According to Xbox, the title presents a mature storyline that's engrossing enough to depict realistic and non-linear game narration. Initially released on Apr. 17, 2012, the action-adventure, RPG title also combines deep tactical elements and dynamic action, ultimately presenting an epic combat system. The game has an online leaderboards feature.

Sold for $29.99, "The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings" is developed by CD Projekt Red and published by WB Games, Inc.
