Is the pressure of having a three-month-old baby getting to Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes?
Daily Mail cited an OK! Magazine report on Monday, which claimed that the couple is living separately, three months after their daughter Esmeralda Amada was born.
The news outlet noted that Mendes, 40, was struggling with taking care of the baby in their Los Angeles home while Gosling, 34, was filming crime thriller "The Nice Guys" (with co-stars Russell Crowe and Kim Basinger) for extended periods of time in Georgia.
"It's more than just run-of-the-mill stress that comes with having a newborn. They're barely talking," a source revealed to OK! Magazine, as quoted by Daily Mail. "Eva has pushed him away."
The actress is also rumored to becoming a recluse and according to Yahoo!, she refuses to fly with their baby to visit Gosling's set in Georgia.
"Instead of coming home every night to them, he's jetting back and forth just so he can see his daughter," an insider said, Yahoo! quoted.
Gosling was also reportedly worried about his partner, who has only been seen out in the public eye on November 3 in Los Angeles. "The last time Ryan was in LA, he told her that she and Esmeralda needed to get outside for some fresh air, but she just wouldn't listen," Daily Mail quotes the OK! Magazine report.
Speaking about the possibility of a separation, the OK! source said the actress will fight for full custody of Esmeralda.
"Eva has been the primary, hands-on parent with Ryan away working so much, so she believes full custody is warranted," the insider said, as reported by Daily Mail.
The couple started dating back in 2011 after filming their movie "A Place Beyond the Pines." Their child was born on September 12 after a hushed and low profile pregnancy. Since then, the actress made no secret about her difficulties in dealing with parenthood and being a new mom. During an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres show," Mendes said, "I'm so incredibly tired," Daily Mail quoted.
Even if she's feeling exhausted, Mendes sticks to her decision of being a hands-on mom. She refuses to hire a nanny to help her take care of Esmeralda.
"Esmeralda has two amazing grandmothers and incredible aunties who come over and help me," Mendes said, in an interview with Violet Grey magazine,
So far, neither of the couple's representatives have confirmed this rumor, according to reports.
