Orlando Bloom has revealed details about the upcoming film, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales."
The actor, who has portrayed Will Turner in past "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies, told IGN that the fifth installment may serve as a soft reboot of the popular Disney franchise.
"I'm not entirely sure that [I'll be back] just yet, but there are talks," Bloom told IGN during the promotion of his latest film, "The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies." "Basically they want to reboot the whole franchise, I think, and do something with me and the relationship with my son."
Bloom added that he is still in negotiation to reprise his Will Turner role, but he also admitted that the plot of the fifth "Pirates of the Caribbean" film intrigues him, the news outlet reports.
"I'm of course Davey Jones now, so I'm down the bottom of the ocean. It might be kind of fun to do something where I'm rumbling round the bottom of the ocean, because I won't look anything like me. [Gestures to face] Get all gnarly," the actor explained, as quoted by IGN.
Bloom first expressed interest on "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" back in September, according to another report from IGN. The last time he starred in the movie franchise was in 2011's "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," opposite Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley.
"There have certainly been some discussions about it and I'm open to it," the actor told IGN. "That whole experience working with Johnny [Depp] and (director) Gore (Verbinski) was really amazing for me. I had a great time working with Johnny, one of the reasons I jumped at the opportunity was because Johnny was involved."
As of this moment, there are only a few reports about the movie's official casting. Depp, however, is confirmed to reprise his Captain Jack Sparrow role. He will be joined by Javier Bardem as the new villain Captain Brand, "a ghost bent on revenge against Sparrow, who he blames for the murder of his brother," IGN reported. Brenton Thwaites will also star as a British soldier who will team up with Captain Sparrow, according to The Daily Telegraph.
Variety reported that Disney is currently eyeing five actresses to be the female lead of the film. Some of the stars being considered for the role are Jenna Thiam ("The Returned"), Lucy Boynton ("Miss Potter"), Gabriella Wilde ("Endless Love"), Kaya Scodelario ("The Maze Runner"), and Alexandra Dowling ("The Musketeers").
Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg will direct "Pirates of the Caribbean 5." Filming is expected to start in Australia in early 2015, with an aim for a July 2017 release in theaters, IGN noted.
