The Boston Celtics are actively shopping veterans Kris Humphries and Gerald Wallace to get assets early this season, a source close to situation reported on Wednesday.

While trade speculations surrounding All-Star guard Rajon Rondo won't subside anytime soon, the Celtics are reportedly exploring another potential trade concerning some of the veterans they received from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry.

Wallace and Humphries are likely to be moved again before the midseason trade deadline as the Celtics look to unload contracts and get more assets in the form of draft picks or an up-and-coming player.

The Boston Herald reported that the Celtics are actively shopping the two veterans, whose contributions have been minimal so far this season. Wallace, former All-Star, is averaging 5.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game in 26 minutes of playing time, while Humphries is chalking up just 4.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per ball game.

"The Celtics are still active in the market. Sources continue to say they'd love to move some veteran contracts (think Kris Humphries, Gerald Wallace) to put them in a better position vis-a-vis the salary cap," Boston Herald stated.

Celtics general manager Danny Ainge admitted that he's currently having negotiations with some of his players in an attempt to address the ballclub's financial flexibility.

"I think that we don't have much flexibility, as much as we would like," Ainge told the Boston Herald. "I wouldn't say it's a priority, but we are having conversations."

Potential Landing Spots For Veterans

At 31-years old, Wallace can still contribute solid stats when given enough playing time. During his first-year of tenure with the Nets, Wallace proved he can make a difference on both ends of the floor but injuries and inconsitency marred his second year of service with the ballclub. Meanwhile, Humphries can still return to his double-double status, only if he's going to play for the right team.

The Charlotte Bobcats, who are playing above expectation so far, might need both Wallace and Humphries to solidify their small forward and power forward positions. In return, the Celtics will get a first-round pick (protected for 2014) and another player, likely Josh McRoberts, to hammer the deal.
