On the latest "Hawaii Five-0," an arrest warrant for unpaid parking tickets developed into a much larger case.
In "Akanahe" (Reluctant Partners), Five-0 "kidnaps" Sato in an effort to discover Adam's (Ian Anthony Dale) whereabouts. Kono (Grace Park) then leaves the team to look for Adam alone.
Back in Hawaii, McGarrett (Alex O'Louglin) and Grover (Chi McBride) are tasked with delivering an arrest warrant for unpaid parking tickets. When they arrive at the house to arrest the person, Ian Wright (guest star Nick Jonas), gunfire ensues and the team ends up stranded with flat tires. Ian disappears, along with Grover's daughter's pink computer, which Grover had taken from her after discovering her Skyping with a boy.
They eventually find the shooter's abandoned car. They smell tear gas, and find evidence of a dye pack explosion. There is only one bank where that uses dye packs to fend off robbers. They investigate the bank and find out that the vault had been robbed, even while a security camera focused on the contents inside.
They have a print of a man killed at the shooting scene, and they eventually learn that it was a four-man crew of robbers. Ian's computer contains encrypted data with NSA-level firewalls, so the team assumes that the robbers were using the young hacker to help commit their crime. They find that a defense attorney may be the connection between the robbers and Ian. However, when they interrogate one of the robbers, they find out that he fears Ian, not the defense attorney.
It turns out that Ian planned the robbery, and has millions in an offshore account. They discover that a contract was recently won to update US embassies with the same system that Ian hacked at the bank. They chase after Ian and find him at the airport with Grover's daughter's laptop. He tells Five-0 that he has control of Flight 408, and that it will crash unless they let him leave for Pago Pago. Catherine contacts the Navy, which helps her locate a second computer Ian is using to control the airline, and she is able to jam the signal.
They let Ian board the plane, then McGarret and Grover enter the plane to arrest him. However, passengers say he went to the bathroom and never returned.
At episode's end, McGarret goes to an ATM machine and sees a message on the screen from Ian, saying "I should have paid the parking tickets." McGarret looks into the machine's camera and tells him that he will find him.
On the next episode, "Hau'oli La Ho'omaika'i" (Happy Thanksgiving), "Five-0 investigates the murder of a secret service agent just as the president travels to Oahu. Meanwhile, McGarrett's aunt visits and brings with her a shocking secret."
TVLine reports that Carol Burnett will guest star in the upcoming episode, and McGarrett will spend some time with Catherine.
