Manny Pacquiao wants to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. even if he gets less than what the undefeated American fighter will get.

Reacting to the challenge set by Mayweather over the weekend, Pacquiao told AFP that fighting Mayweather is "about legacy, this is about making the fans happy and, above all, this is for the good of boxing."

Talks about the purse money for the fight have become an issue as Mayweather wants the bigger share of the pie.

"Mayweather can get the amount he wants. As early as January this year, I challenged him to a charity fight. Until now, he has not agreed to it. So, money is not the issue in our fight," the Filipino boxer added.

"He has nowhere to run but to fight me," Pacquiao was quoted by AFP as saying.

The two boxers have long been paired for a big event since they are considered the "best pound-for-pound" fighters of their generation.

Despite Mayweather's announcement of making the fight happen on May 2, Pacquiao said that he still doubts if the former will engage him in a slugfest.

"I will try my best to (make) this a thrilling and entertaining fight. You all know his fighting style. Most of his previous fights, if not all, induced us to sleep," added Pacquiao.

The Filipino boxer promised his fans that he will do what he has to do to win the fight and put an end to Mayweather's undefeated record. "I will chase him wherever he goes just in case he decides to run around the ring. We will devise a good fight plan against him."

A BoxingNews24 report discussed that the fight will be very critical for both fighters especially to Mayweather who is continuously trying to prove to the whole world that he is the best boxer there is.

The report said that if the fight favors the faster and more offensive fighter in Pacquiao, Mayweather would not be able to forgive himself for agreeing to fight with the the Filipino champ.

It may also be a signal that Mayweather could resign after a possible loss to Pacman especially that he is not really used to dealing with failure in his entire career as a boxer. BoxingNews24 said that Mayweather has certainly chosen to fight one of the most dangerous opponents in this boxing generation in Pacquiao.

But before all these predictions, the whole sports industry is really hoping that Mayweather will stick to his words of fighting Pacquiao in May next year.
