There is wreckage that would get you to think that someone died -- except you'd be wrong with Cam Newton's truck, the cab of which was flattened by multiple rolls in a Tuesday mishap. The quarterback, one of the biggest stars of the NFL now, thankfully obtained only minor injuries. 

"The cab of his truck was crushed. You had to think he was lucky to be alive. Newton thought the same," agreed Yahoo Sports. He went to work on Thursday, NFL.com reported, to appear to the media for the first time, revealing new details and how thankful he was that he was left only with two fractures in his lower back.

"I'm looking at this truck and thinking someone's supposed to be dead ... I couldn't stop smiling," he said in the press conference, which, per the report, originally wanted to elaborate on the Carolina Panthers' final push for a playoffs berth.

"Still, the accident was a topic that couldn't be avoided with reporters," said NFL.com, as it posted a video of the whole event.

A car pulled out in front of his 1998 Dodge pickup and then sped up as he drove on, hitting his truck's back left to send it into a roll.

"I feel great," Newton said. "I could be feeling way much worse as we all know but, you know man, being a religious person, God is good man and with looking at the situation at hand, you know I'm lucky to be standing in front of you right now... I'm on somebody's fantasy team, and I think it's the man upstairs."

"I couldn't talk afterwards because it was such a shock," Newton added. "I just can't stop smiling because God has his hands on me man..."

The accident puts him on the sideline on Sunday as the Panthers face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, ESPN Go said. NFL.com said it is only the second game he will miss in the NFL.

ESPN Go said Newton reported at BOA for a rehab of the injuries similar to that obtained by Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys quarterback, earlier in the year. He also met with his coaches and the players.

He could be back at practice next week, coach Ron Rivera told ESPN Go, although without guarantees. The player is not worried, however.

"As far as when I'm coming back, who cares... That's not something I'm worried about. I'm just thankful to have breath in my lungs so I can breathe again," Newton said. 

He shared the same message of thanks on Instagram, saying, among others: " L1FE IS TO SHORT FOR YOU NOT TO APPRECIATE IT TO THE FULLNESS; THROUGH THE GOOD AND THE BAD!"

"From your biggest fan in TX, I'm so glad to hear you're well. Can't wait to see you back on the field when you're whole!" one fan commented to the post, now with nearly 67,000 likes.
