Even though Rockstar has not officially announced "Red Dead Redemption 2," the game developer has already confirmed that the sequel is in the works.
PSU reports that a multiplayer co-op will be featured for the first time in the game series, and "will be a prominent focus in the sequel." The news came from a user on NeoGAF, which was approved by a forum moderator, so PSU noted that the story "must be trustworthy."
The news from NeoGAF reads: "So I spoke to an insider at Rockstar who confirmed that Rockstar is indeed developing a sequel to Red Dead Redemption for PS4/Xbox One. Don't have a lot of concrete details but expect co-op to be integrated and focused on." However, game developers would still have to confirm the news.
The original "Red Dead Redemption" was released in 2010 on the PS3 and Xbox 360 and featured a single player mode. According to Air Herald, there's a multiplayer mode in the first "Red Dead Redemption," but it was only an added bonus.
There are also no confirmed details about the plot of "Red Dead Redemption 2." The first version of the game focused on the tail-end of the American frontier. "So if it's integrated in to the same story it would either have to adopt early vehicles and technology and put one foot out of the Wild West setting, or act as a prequel," Air Herald notes.
Instead of the usual button bashing horse riding design of the first "Red Dead" game, the news outlet further reports, other transport vehicles will be great addition to the game.
"Red Dead 2" is reportedly getting ideas from "Grand Theft Auto V." The latter has a game mode called "Grab a Bag," where players grab a bag of loot from opponents while riding a car, Jobs and Hire reports.
Take-Two Interactive's Strauss Zelnick has already confirmed the "Red Dead" franchise to be permanent so "new announcements for the next-gen consoles seems inevitable for the popular title," a report from Express says.
According to Tweaktown, "Red Dead Redemption 2" coming to the Xbox One and PS4 is no surprise, but the lack of a PC version of the game could be disappointing.
"Considering the total craziness surrounding the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V, you'd think Rockstar would've learned by now, that the PC audience is huge," Tweaktown reports. However, this might still change after the sequel is officially announced to the public.
