Rumors about Apple's larger iPad offerings, dubbed the iPad Pro or iPad Air Plus, have been swirling online. Just recently, additional news surfaced about Apple's latest product.
Here are 5 specifications and features rumored to be present in the iPad Air Plus, as reported by TechRadar.
1. Design
According to TechRadar, the iPad Air Plus will come in at 12.2 inches, with dimensions of 305.31 x 220.8 x 7 mm. The gadget will also come with "a detachable keyboard to square up against business-friendly devices." Aside from that, it will also feature "a set of speakers and microphones on the top and bottom edges, which could function in a similar fashion to how the iPad 2 handles stereo sound."
2. Features
An iSight camera and Lightning connector may also be present in the iPad Air Plus. The gadget is also rumored to have 2K or 4K resolution. However, TechRadar reports that it would likely come around with a 4096 x 3072 and an almost-UHD resolution. The company may also incorporate its Touch ID technology in the home button of the new iPad.
Providing the iPad Air Plus with a stylus is also being discussed by reports. This move might be necessary, especially now that Apple's competitor, Samsung, has released an S-Pen to accompany its Galaxy Note Pro.
According to TechRadar, Apple's latest stylus accessory might be named iPen, which includes "potential features like a laser pointer, the ability to project images and scanning capabilities among other."
3. Processor
"The iPad Pro will almost undoubtedly use a beefier version of Apple's 64-bit A7 chip, if not the new A8X processor or even a completely new A9 chip," TechRadar notes. But there are also reports claiming that Apple will use A9, a completely new processor, for the iPad Air Plus.
4. Camera and Eye Tracking
Little news has been reported about the gadget's camera. The tablet will be larger but lighter than a number of laptops, so interested buyers shouldn't be overly concerned about the performance of the iPad Air Plus' shooter. The quality of its front-facing camera is yet to be confirmed, too, but there are already lots of expectations about the quality of its webcam.
TechRadar adds that Apple shouldn't dismiss adding an eye tracking technology in their upcoming iPad. According to the report, "The company has already seen startups like uMoove interested in providing the tech."
5. OS and Storage
The iPad Air Plus will most likely run using Apple's latest operating system - the iOS 8.
When it comes to storage, the 128 GB space of the iPad is good, but 256 GB is even better. Let's see if Apple will include a bigger storage for the new iPad.
All these information came from Japanese news website Macotakara. 3G reports that the gadget may come out between April and June next year, with Tech Radar saying that its cost may vary between the iPad Air and MacBook Air's prices.
