The winner for the Wild Card round of "The Voice" has finally been announced--and it's none other than Team Adam's Damien.
"The Voice" host Carson Daly revealed the news on "The Today Show," Music Times reports. Damien will be joining Chris Jamison and Matt McAndrew also from Team Adam, along with Craig Wayne Boyd from Blake Shelton's team. Damien, Jamison, McAndrew, and Boyd are now the Top 4 finalists of the singing competition.
Before the announcement, Daly interviewed the Top 3 first, who all seemed to be "a little bit tired, but really excited about being in the finals," Hypable reports. The host spoke to them briefly before welcoming the Wild Card round winner on the stage.
According to Hypable, "Damien is thrilled to have accomplished his goal of making it to the finals, with only a slight setback along the way."
Damien was eliminated from the Top 5 finalists, along with Taylor John Williams of Team Gwen, on Monday's episode, Music Times noted. The two then joined the seven other eliminated contestants in the Wild Card round, wherein the artists were given the chance to perform one song in order to gain America's votes and make it to the Top 3 finalists.
Damien performed his rendition of Bruno Mars' "Grenade". According to Music Times, the artist chose the song perfectly. "Grenade" allowed him to "show off his passion, range and beautiful gospel tone while still managing to show off a different side of his abilities. Damien, much too embedded in the world of gospel and ballads, got to sing a more mid-tempo tune while still being in his wheelhouse."
Aside from the Bruno Mars song choice, Damien also performed Michael Jackson's "She's Out of My Life" and Paula Cole's "I Don't Want to Wait," Music Times reports.
According to the Hypable report, "Having one coach's entire team intact for the finals is another 'Voice' first." The final leg of the competition will be Team Adam vs. Team Blake. Shelton has the most number of winners in the entire history of the program. He had three winning artists, with Levine coming second with two. The question is: would Levine tie that up or would Shelton emerge as the winning coach again?
"The Voice" Top 4 will perform next Monday, 8 PM, with the winner revealed on the results show on Tuesday, same time, Hypable notes.
