Burkina Faso will face off against Algeria in the second leg of the World Cup playoffs.
Burkina Faso is looking to play in its first ever World Cup and is just 90 minutes away from accomplishing the feat. The team pulled off a 3-2 win at home in its opening match and faces a rather complicated situation in the second leg. Because of the two away goals, Algeria only needs a 1-0 win to eliminate Burkina Faso. Even a 2-1 victory would be sufficient for the Algerians due to the away tallies. The goal for Burkina Faso is simply, score the first goal and then play defense. The first goal would give the team a 4-2 aggregate lead and would force Algeria to score two goals to qualify. A 1-1 draw is of no use to the Algerians either.
"We are 90 minutes away from Brazil, and we can't let Algeria take the place," Burkina Faso's Saidou Panandetiguiri said according to FIFA.com. "We will do everything in our power to qualify after managing to come all of this way back after starting with zero points."
"We know it is not going to be easy, we know if you want to fight for the World Cup you have to work hard. The game against Algeria will be a very, very hard game," he added. "Algeria scored two goals in Burkina Faso and know they just need to win, but we have a strong team, and I think we can get a result in Algeria."
Prediction: The two sides battle to a 1-1 draw.
Start Time: Kick off begins at 1:15 p.m. EST
