The United States will take on Austria in a friendly on Tuesday.
The Americans drew 0-0 with Scotland in what was ultimately a disappointing response for the team. However, the one major take away from the game was the solid chemistry between forwards Jozy Altidore and Aron Johansson. Altidore started the game as the lone striker, while Johansson came on in the second half; his introduction added a new attacking dimension to the club.
"Aron is fresh to our team and is getting comfortable in the group. I think everyone sees the qualities that he has. So it's good to see that process of development. Now if we want to field him with Jozy from the start we can. He has the confidence to carry out that role if we ask him to," said Coach Jurgen Klinsmann, according to MLS Soccer.
"I've told people for two years now about his quality," Altidore added. "You can see from his touch that he's so comfortable in tight areas. I don't know what position he plays, because he can play up front and in the hole as well. He's such a clever player and creates for others and himself. The game opened up when he came on."
The United States has qualified for the World Cup, while Austria finished third in its UEFA Qualifier group behind Germany and Sweden.
Prediction: The Americans have struggled in Europe throughout their history and continued to do so against Scotland. Look for them to draw 1-1 with Austria.
Start Time: Kickoff begins at 2:45 p.m. EST
