The sixth generation of Apple's iPod touch has been the subject of recent speculations -- given the fact that the latest model came out two years ago, as noted by The Verge.

According to Customs Today, the sixth-gen iPod touch was initially thought to appear last September. But we have seen no shadow of the rumored device in any of the Cupertino giant's media events. This time, the outlet cited allegations claiming that the revamped media player arrives in Spring (around March) 2015. It is also believed that it will launch alongside the highly-anticipated Apple Watch and the iOS 8.2 software update.

On the other hand, Product Reviews reported debates heating over the possible end of the iPod touch saga. The source mentioned that some of its readers believe there is no need for an iPhone and iPod touch to coexist; having both appears to be a waste of money.

Yet the outlet cited another point claiming that the iPod touch has served its purpose earlier, when people didn't have the opportunity to get their hands on the iPhone. The source came to a consensual verdict that some entertainment devices are better off separated -- the iPod touch needed its identity, after all.

Master Herald noted that the iPod touch 6G will be drawing inspiration from the iPhone 6, in the form of technical features. The outlet listed the fresh Apple Pay technology as one of the most anticipated features on the rumored device. The apparent delay of the device was also attributed to "a few technical glitches," which Apple has reportedly solved at present.

Apple allegedly delayed the iPod touch 6G so that it can gauge the iPhone 6 Plus' performance in the market, said Customs Today. Additionally, the outlet said the device had "more to do."

The first-generation iPod touch came out in 2007, said Master Herald. The source is convinced that Apple disappointed followers when the iPod touch 6G didn't arrive as expected. Nevertheless, the outlet believes in the premise established by the iPod touch line-up, calling the product one of the "most celebrated" devices from the Cupertino-based company.

Meanwhile, Christian Today says Apple should exert more effort and avoid failing to engage consumers like it did before. The source believes Apple is trying to prevent an undeniable flop with the iPod touch this time around.

Other rumored specs of the iPod touch 6G include Retina Display, 128 GB storage space and Touch ID, wrote The Gospel Herald. Apple may not offer the device in contractual, monthly agreements like it does with iPhone payment systems. As we have previously noted, the device may retail less than the iPhone 6.
