Hong Kong and Uzbekistan will face off in the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.

Hong Kong sits in third place in Group E with four points in four games. The squad has a record of one win, one draw and two losses with only one goal scored and eight conceded. Shockingly, the team is still in contention to finish in the top two with a win in this match and its final qualifier.

Hong Kong tied 0-0 at Uzbekistan and defeated Vietnam 1-0 in its first two qualifiers. The team then lost 4-0 against United Arab Emirates in its third and fourth matches of the tournament.

Uzbekistan sits in second place in the qualifiers with seven points by virtue of two wins, a draw and a loss. The team has scored seven goals and has only allowed three. After the 0-0 draw with Hong Kong, Uzbekistan lost 2-1 against the United Arab Emirates. In its first game with Vietnam, the team won 3-1; the rematch was 3-0 away victory.

This match is intriguing for a number of reasons. Hong Kong is home and should have an advantage considering the 0-0 draw between the two sides in the opening match. A win for Hong Kong would bring it level with Uzbekistan with a match against lowly Vietnam pending. Two straight wins would probably put Hong Kong through. Meanwhile Uzbekistan has to take on United Arab Emirates in its final game at home; that alone makes a victory in Hong Kong all the more important.

Prediction: The two teams draw 1-1.
