Fans of the hit animated film "Frozen" are in for a treat. The actress behind Elsa, Idina Menzel, just hinted a possible sequel for the Disney blockbuster hit.

In an interview with The Telegraph, the 43-year-old Broadway star commented on the rumors pertaining to "Frozen 2," saying that "they're all in the works."

Speculations about the sequel have been circulating around for months, as well as a stage musical and a six-minute short called "Frozen Fever." Menzel, however, confirmed that she wouldn't portray the ice princess in the Broadway version, The Telegraph noted.

"Not the stage show - I don't know what will happen with that - but the movie hopefully. We'll see. I'm just going along for the ride," Menzel told the news outlet.

Back in February, Walt Disney Co. Chief Bob Iger dismissed plans for a "Frozen" sequel. According to Variety, Iger said that the company is focusing on developing ways to expand "new iterations" for the movie.

"This has real franchise potential," he said, as quoted by Variety. "We expect to see not just new product but continued interest in this and continued impact on the bottom line for quite awhile. Its success speaks volumes on the future of animation at our company."

"Frozen," which told the story of royal sisters Elsa and Anna, is the highest grossing animated film of all time, earning $1.27 billion worldwide when it was released in theaters on Thanksgiving 2013. According to Entertainment Weekly, the movie won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. The movie's theme song titled "Let It Go," sung by Menzel, also won the Academy Award.

Aside from the Broadway musical and the possible sequel, Disney also released toys based on "Frozen." According to Daily Mail, "Frozen" merchandise took over Barbie and claimed the number one spot for 2014's Christmas present list for girls. There's also "Frozen on Ice," which is currently touring on popular demand across the country, Vanity Fair reports.

The six-minute short "Frozen Fever" is set to come out in theaters in spring 2015, and will reportedly include a new song from Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, the same duo behind "Let It Go." According to Disney, "Frozen Fever" will feature Anna's birthday celebration: "Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa's icy powers may put more than just the party at risk."

Despite the possibility of a "Frozen" sequel, fans may have to wait a long time to see Elsa and the other characters in Arendelle. Entertainment Weekly reports that "Frozen" director and writer Jennifer Lee currently has her hands full on the big screen adaptation of Madeleine L'Engle's "A Wrinkle in Time" for Disney.

Here's a report by SunriseOn7, discussing the possibility of a "Frozen 2" sequel.
