Those wishing to get a glimpse of the next "GTA" installment may be up for some retro excitement, thanks to recent speculations. According to Motoringcrunch, some fans had taken the initiative to wish for a 1970s-inspired theme for "Grand Theft Auto VI." How cool is that?

At this point, the exact location of the anticipated sequel is uncertain -- but we previously took note of potential settings such as Vice City (Miami-equivalent), Liberty City (New York-equivalent), Paris, London, Brazil and Las Vegas. Those familiar with the look and vibe of these cities in the 1970s might already have screenshots running over their heads!

The New York City speculation comes from DJ Whoo Kid who said over BallerStatus, "I'm 'bout to be in the new 'Grand Theft Auto' that takes place in New York again." However, it was unclear whether he's referring to a "GTA V" extension or a new "GTA" sequel.

Motoringcrunch added that some fans preferred London should the 1970s notion be realized. The outlet cited the rise of the city's rave culture at the time, which could be very much adaptable to our beloved "GTA" characters.

In an earlier account, Christian Post predicted that "GTA VI" will bring two new protagonists: one will be John Marston's descendant, while the other will be of Asian heritage. A female lead character is also expected.

The source cited a statement from Rockstar's Dan Houser, "In the future, could we do a game with a female lead character? Of course, we just haven't found the right game for it yet, but it's one of the things that we always think about."

"Grand Theft Auto VI" may arrive in 2017 or later, if reports are to be believed. KpopStarz noted that a 2017 release may be possible. On the other hand, gta6grandtheftauto.com said it could come around 2018 to 2020. Either way, we know that Rockstar might take its time to build hype, given the undeniable success of the recently-released "GTA V."

One certain thing though is that publisher Rockstar definitely thought something for "GTA VI." Rockstar North studio president Leslie Benzies told Develop in October, "We don't know what 'GTA VI' will be, but we've got some ideas."

"GTA V" has launched in the PS4 and Xbox One on Nov. 18. The PC gets it by Jan. 2015, said Gamespot.

What do you think about a 1970s-inspired "Grand Theft Auto VI?" Will it be worth the wait? Let us hear your comments.
