The eighth episode of this season's "The Walking Dead" just aired, and it featured three separate story-lines of the characters.
According to a report from Forbes, Rick, Tyreese, and Sasha join Daryl and Noah to help rescue Beth and Carol, who are being held in Grady Memorial Hospital. Carl and Michonne stayed behind at the church with Father Gabriel and baby Judith. Eventually, the priest runs off from the church. Glenn, Abraham, Maggie, and the others are still at Georgia, with Eugene unconscious.
Seth Gilliam, who portrays Father Gabriel Stokes, sat down for an interview with Entertainment Weekly to discuss his character on the hit zombie drama. When asked by the news outlet why Father Gabriel is hesitant to learn how to fight, Gilliam said that the priest cannot handle harming people.
"He's extremely conflicted by what he's done, and he's still a man of God, so foremost that means doing no harm to people," Gilliam explained to Entertainment Weekly. "There is more telling than showing, and I think for Father Gabriel, the moment that he takes up a weapon is a very difficult one for him because it is kind of admitting that perhaps the ways that he has living his life and going on and believing in the world has really come to an end."
Gilliam also revealed what he would feel if his character gets killed on the show. For any follower of "The Walking Dead," it should be expected that any character might not survive before an episode ends. According to Entertainment Weekly, source materials of the show claim that the priest would be still be around, but Gilliam said that things might still change.
"People have told me, okay, Father Gabriel is still around. But I'm not hanging my hat on that because there are so many different kinds of switchovers and changes between the characters from the graphic novels and the TV series," Gilliam told the news outlet.
"So I am prepared every script that I get to see ...and then Gabriel gets his throat ripped out. It's a show about people in extreme circumstances after a zombie apocalypse - I don't think anybody's got a real long shelf life, you know? And I'd be fine with that, and if and when that happens will make it the most compelling or grisly or shocking or sad or joyful - if people hate the character - moment that it could possibly be," the actor added, as quoted by Entertainment Weekly.
The eighth episode and the mid-season finale, titled "Coda," will air on Sunday, November 30. AMC's official synopsis for "Coda" reads: "Rules and morals have been tossed aside by new enemies. Rick will try to find a peaceful agreement, but they might prefer violence." Watch the episode's sneak peeks below.
