Angel Di Maria has at least one team marking him as an addition to their roster, while Ilkay Gundogan revealed that he would happily suit up for games in Spain or England.
With teams already gearing up for next year's football action, France's Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is eyeing the Argentine player from Manchester United, even if they would need to buy him for a huge amount, said Express.
In the summer transfer window, PSG was limited by a Financial Fair Play sanction handed out by the UEFA, Express said in another report. They were so close to inking Di Maria but the restriction led to his £60-millon (~P9.4 million) move to United.
The Ligue 1 champions are limited to £50-million (~P7.8 million) for new signings, Express explained. PSG was hopeful that the ceilings would be lifted, however.
"PSG, they had a money problem and they couldn't buy players," the report quoted Di Maria as saying. "I know I'm still young, perhaps I'll go to PSG one day."
With growing discontent with the stalemate in his career, meanwhile, German Ilkay Guldogan, midfielder of Borussia Dortmund, admitted that his sights were on Barclays Premier League, per the Daily Mail.
A back injury — an inflamed nerve — bogged him down after helping Dortmund claim a German Bundesliga title in 2012. He appeared only three times last year, the report said, and the playtime after getting injured in a friendly match versus Paraguay has made him weary of his career in German football.
Still according to the report, Gundogan has been linked to United and almost signed for Real Madrid, and is now giving them the motive to take him.
"Real Madrid made an offer for me but my club refused it... At the time I had two more seasons on my contract. But also, my injury wrecked everything. I couldn't play for 14 months," he said, per the Daily Mail. "Now I want to look forward and make up for lost time with sporting success... If one day I leave here, I'd like to play in Spain or for one of the big teams in England."
With the admission, he alerted Manchester United, Give Me Sport said. It is not United or Real's first time to woo him, however, as they tried to secure him concurrently with many other teams pre-injury.
According to Express, United is now seeing him as a good alternative to Roma's Kevin Strootman and Juventus' Arturo Vidal. Louis Van Gaal wants to improve his midfield and has Strootman and Vidal as boosters. However, both players' teams are refusing negotiations.
Heading back to the field after therapy, Gundogan's team produced a 2-2 draw with Paderborn during their weekend match, which is not bad news at all. A product of the German youth system, he brings technical gifts to whomever lands him, Give Me Sport said.
In the meantime, with Dortmund, he will fight for a place in the starting lineup.
