BlackBerry fans in the United States have an exciting week to look forward to. The keyboard-touting BlackBerry Q10 will begin making its debut on carriers T-Mobile and Verizon, while AT&T customers can finally begin pre-ordering their device.
T-Mobile will be the first major U.S. national wireless carrier to begin stocking the BlackBerry Q10 on its retail stores' shelves. The BlackBerry Q10 went on sale in T-Mobile brick-and-mortars earlier today, June 5, and calls to various T-Mobile stores around Manhattan confirmed availability. The same should hold true for other major metropolitan areas, although as usual, it's always best to call before.
T-Mobile is asking for a $99.99 down payment for the Q10, with subsequent $20 installments over the next two years for a total price of $579.99. This is part of T-Mobile's contract-free game plan, as the payments are for the cost of the phone, not for minutes or data. Those will have to be purchased separately, and can be cancelled at any time, although charges will be applied for the rest of the cost of the smartphone itself. T-Mobile only sells the Q10 in black.
Verizon Wireless will follow T-Mobile with an in-store release tomorrow, June 6. Verizon is offering the BlackBerry Q10 for $199.99 with a two-year contract. Unlike the other carriers, Verizon customers can also choose a white version of the Q10, which is exclusive to the carrier.
AT&T users can head over to the AT&T BlackBerry Q10 pre-order page to snag their QWERTY fix for a price of $199.99 with a two-year contract. AT&T states that the smartphone will ship out June 18, and also only has the Q10 in black.
Sprint is the only major carrier so far to have not given a specific release date, only stating that the Q10 will become available in "late summer."
The BlackBerry Q10 comes with a 3.1-inch touchscreen display on top of the QWERTY keyboard, 2GB RAM, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The BlackBerry Q10 supports LTE and runs the latest BlackBerry operating system, BlackBerry 10.
