International hacktivist group Anonymous claims that it will release evidence condemning Darren Wilson to having ties with the white supremacist group, Ku Klux Klan or KKK, Daily Mail reports.
Wilson, a police officer at Ferguson, Missouri, reportedly shot an 18-year-old unarmed black teenager named Michael Brown last August 9, the outlet added. Citizens of Ferguson have been awaiting the verdict of the Grand Jury whether Wilson will be indicted for the shooting, which sparked massive protests and racial tension over the last few months.
Anonymous has been hacking accounts of KKK members, the report added, and the group is now saying that they have strong evidence that shows Wilson is connected to the extremist group. Daily Mail Online wrote, "Anonymous seized two of the Ku Klux Klan's twitter accounts yesterday after the Klan distributed fliers threatening the use of 'lethal force' should violence erupt in the wake of Ferguson Grand Jury's decision on whether to indict Wilson."
Anonymous, also a part of Anon Cop Watch, has reportedly released photographs of the members of the group, including Frank Ancona, Imperial Wizard of the TAKKKK (Traditionalist American Knights of the KKK). He, along with two other KKK members, appear to have sided with the pro-Darren Wilson protest, Daily Mail noted.
In a similar report, BBC reported that Anonymous used the hashtags #OpKKK and #HoodsOff to reveal the identities of the KKK members online. Anonymous even "provided links to social media accounts which contained their photos, addresses, phone numbers, ages, workplaces, and photos of their children."
In response to criticisms violating free speech, Anonymous released this statement, as quoted by BBC: "We are not attacking you because of what you believe in, as we fight for freedom of speech. We are attacking you because of your threats to use lethal attacks against us at the Ferguson protests... The Ku Klux Klan is a terrorist group. The blood of thousands of human beings are on the hands of the Klansmen."
Protesters at Ferguson have been using the slogan "Hands Up Don't Shoot." According to Daily Mail, it is "a reference to witness accounts claiming that Brown had his hands up when Wilson let off his fatal volley on August 9."
Since Brown's death, Ferguson has been filled with violence, protests, gunfire, and burglary, Daily Mail added. Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has declared a State of Emergency and requested for the assistance of the National Guard should violence erupt upon the issuance of the Grand Jury's verdict. Prosecutor Bob McCulloch stated that a decision would be released by late November.
