The PlayStation 4 has had quite a successful launch, with Sony confirming that over one million consoles have been sold since the Nov. 15 release date. But now, many gamers are looking at the Nov. 22 launch date for the Xbox One to see how the console stacks up. Some early reviews for the games on the Microsoft console have been released, and indicate that the Xbox One's game library could overtake Sony's lukewarm launch titles.
Leading the charge for the Xbox One is the exclusive Dead Rising 3, which has a Metacritic score of 78. The game is perhaps the best exclusive title available between the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and shows how next gen gaming can do more than just update graphics. Dead Rising 3 offers the chance for players to experience fighting a true horde of zombies, and the open world setting does much to help the game feel like the first killer app for either system.
Another game for the Xbox One with an early reviewer average score of 78 is Call of Duty: Ghosts. The game has been released for a variety of consoles, but many fans and reviewers note that the game is meant to be played on next gen consoles. With the huge fan community for the game on both the Xbox One and Xbox 360, Microsoft's console may be the one to buy the game for.
While not having as strong of reviews as either Dead Rising 3 or Call of Duty: Ghosts, Killer Instinct (74) is a solid downloadable title to check out on the Xbox One. The game, initially free to play (one fighter is available for free, with others available for paid DLC) may lack content currently, but the game has a solid foundation on which to build a strong fighting game title for Xbox One fans.
Each new console launch usually has a few duds or two, and it looks like Crimson Dragon (55) may be the mediocre game of the bunch. Much like Knack on the PlayStation 4, the game fails to distinguish itself from the pack and be become a forgotten footnote in the wider Xbox One launch window.
More games are set to appear for the Xbox One, but so far it looks as though the console will have a strong launch lineup of games that may sway gamers into buying the console despite the fact that it is $100 more than the PlayStation 4.
